Thank you for your interest and submitting a concise bug report with
reproduction steps. We have done a lot of work to improve BSD Grep in FreeBSD
prior to making it the default, and this issue is not reproducible thus
reporting this to Apple would be appropriate. However, comment #2 claims that
it is already fixed in a more recent macOS version so I suspect there is no
value in submitting such a report.
