Yes, definitely; Wide uses a wider datapath than normal, aka narrow.
you'll get better thruput in heavy loads with wide vs. narrow.  If this is
a workstation it's your call.

Adaptec 2940UW (NO A) and the NCR series (53c810, 815, 825, etc) work
well.  The NCRs are only SCSI 2.
