Ah, sorry, forgot to mention: gawk does allow more than two arguments for t=
hose
functions, so maybe the previous implementation followed that style. Howeve=
r, I
don't see any explicit reference to gawk for those functions, the only ment=
ion
about the bitwise functions refers to OpenBSD, as mentioned above.
