The following reply was made to PR misc/9698; it has been noted by GNATS. From: Sheldon Hearn <sheldonh@iafrica.com> To: freebsd-gnats-submit@freebsd.org Cc: kev@Kev.lab321.ru, yokota@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: misc/9698: unusable console, when I start xdm from /etc/ttys Date: Thu, 04 Mar 1999 16:12:35 +0200 Hi there, I've tried unsuccessfully to reproduce this problem on a 4.0-CURRENT (today) machine running XFree86-3.3.3.1 . Three questions: 1) Are you sure /dev/ttyva exists? 2) Are you sure you followed the instructions at http://www.freebsd.org/~yokota/sc_update.txt for switching to the new console and keyboard drivers? If you can't upgrade to a recent CURRENT and the latest XFree86-3.3.3.1, then go ahead and send us the information Kazu asked you for... dmesg output and the contents of xdm-errors. If you're not having a problem any more, please let us know what you did to fix the problem so that we can close your problem report. Ciao, Sheldon.
