While on the topic of 'dump', note that there's also the patch in http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=bin/32414 which fixes a problem where dump will include information that should not be included (due to the nodump flag being set). This too would result in dump files larger than they "should" be...
