Works to open items, but I guess perhaps a symptom of --no-shm is that the
preview is not generated for files in the open dialog until you actually open
the file. Previews that have been generated by opening the file persist beyond
relaunching the application -- so they are likely being stored in an on-disk
cache. However, they aren't generating on-the-fly in the open dialog as they
have in the past (instead displaying a message "cannot create preview" as a
placeholder until you open the file).
