You don't need to recompile the kernel to change the time. You will need to edit either /etc/rc.conf or /etc/defaults/rc.conf (which ever has the security setting), and set it to -1. It will look like: kern_securelevel_enable="YES" kern_securelevel="2" Just change 2 or whatever the number is to -1 and reboot. After this, you can change your time with the command 'date' and then change the security setting back to the original setting with the command 'sysctl -w kern.securelevel=#'.
