I like the idea of using gstreamer<ver>-*, I originally wanted to do this for 0.10 but there was just a lack of help in moving everything and the whole update to 0.10 took an enormous amount of time. 0.12 (or what ever the next major version is) I think we should go with gstreamer<ver>-*.
