A new mirror of ftp.freebsd.org is now up and running. The
url is ftp://ftp.ibt.tamus.edu/pub/FreeBSD. The machine is
well connected via OC3-ATM to our local backbone. Internet
connectivity is multiple DS3s (shared among several institutions),
and OC3-POS to Internet2. The primary purpose of this machine
is to provide a very high speed mirror to the Internet2
community. Typical transfers should be 500Kbyte/sec to 5MB/sec
depending on your local connectivity via Internet2. If this
mirror would be useful to freebsd.org, then I'll send an email
to the hostmaster to get ftpX.freebsd.org.
