this is not the case... 
1) it doesnt time out (I've tried to wait for some hours - no change)
2) it doesnt wait on anything (no [tm]sleep or something)
ps axl:
    0   652   589   0  20  0  2320 1792 -      R+    p2    0:00.05 iftop
(as you can see mwchan is -)
3) it didnt behave this way $sometime ago

hence I think this is a bug
