hell yeah baby, Unix, LINux , freebsd are all the same . pulling hair off, bang head on wall or table top is the way of learning *nix :) -----Original Message----- From: leegold [mailto:goldtech@worldpost.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2000 11:16 AM To: freebsd-newbies@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: x-windows ATI xpert2000 THERE is no support on how to apply the fix for this card. it's buggy in xfree86 and i have to do something w.the source tree to apply the fix. it ain't gonna happen - nobodies gonna give me STEP-STEP instructions on how to apply the fix - may have to recompile the source. i haven't gotten the support i need either from ATI , X11, questions mail group, or on-line docs, or xi386 x newsgroups on how to do the fix. so screw-it , i swapped the NEW cool ATI for the STB Velocity128 in my old DELL. And will try anew.( the ati installed fine on NT4.0 - via OEM support ). Now let me try w/the STB card - so far I have be getting some fatal x error mess. and can't get x working. but i'll try again today. i am a bit cranky, been up all nite trying to get x to work. in contrast freeBSD itself installs beautifully. ----- Original Message ----- From: Nguyen, Olivier T [AMSTA-AR-CCF-D] <onguyen@pica.army.mil> To: 'leegold' <goldtech@worldpost.com>; <freebsd-newbies@FreeBSD.ORG> Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2000 10:56 AM Subject: RE: x-windows > yo > what graphic card you have ? > i have ati and other s3 graphic card and it just work fine. i choose > xwindows setup during the freebsd install. > > -----Original Message----- > From: leegold [mailto:goldtech@worldpost.com] > Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2000 10:40 AM > To: freebsd-newbies@FreeBSD.ORG > Subject: x-windows > > > permission to speak freely: > > i am having a nasty time trying to get xFree86 to work. the freeBSD install > itself is easy and fun. but the x is a hassel. anybody know any > alternatives? i'd be willing to try. is freex86 the "only show in town" for > windows action w/FreeBSD? > > > > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message
