At exactly the same time I was trying to do it too, so we had three commit attempts (two successful) here within a few minutes of each other. (The SUBDIR didn't belong there at all, your change was to make it descend during "all", but you forgot about clean, obj, cleandir, etc. And the install directory was not set either.
