OK.  That makes sense.

Well, now I am unsure of where you got the fdisk output you
sent in the other message - before or after doing an fdisk.
I can't imagine being able to get stuff off the disk if you 
actually changed the slicing though.

Well, if you have everything you need reliably backed up, then
doing a reboot can't hurt too much other than the possible time
it takes to rebild everything.  I would check the quality of 
the backup first - try reading several files from it.
