Check out: http://weblogs.java.net/blog/mreinhold/archive/2004/11/mustang_snapsho.html It seems that Sun is going to offer periodic snapshots of their next JDK source code. This could be an excellent opportunity for more closely aligning the FreeBSD JDK patchset release with the official one. Provided volunteers donate their time, of course :-) On another note, perhaps the distribution of JDK 5.0/6.0 patchsets should be subject to the new Java Research License? It seems more open source-friendly, not to mention shorter :-) Distribution of diablo binaries shall remain a responsibility for the FreeBSD Foundation's legal negotiations, of course.
