I have created a little how to for making certificates and signing them with your own CA- mainly so that I won't have to spend another 2 nights trying to figure it out again. Per the doc guide, the how-to is at http://www.corserv.com/freebsd/ the document is apache-ssl-howto.html. Maybe this will save other people from hours of searching the source tree and modssl.org for this info.
