Question: How is maxusers and limits related..i.e. does maxusers=64 mean 64 processes per user? if so, would 'limits -B -u 1024' override this feature? Another Question: Say if you only have a couple of users and the box is mainly used as a webserver, is there a limit as to how high you should set 'limits' values to? -Andy At 04:07 PM 4/8/99 -0400, you wrote: > > >You need to sex maxusers high in the config and recompile, and you need to >check the login.conf to make sure that the max child and max open are >large for the userid it runs as and/or is invoked by > > >On Thu, 8 Apr 1999, Prime Internet Network wrote: > >> >> I am running FreeBSD 2.2.6 and I am having this problem all the time. >> >> 'Error - server couldn't spawn child process' in my apache logs. >> >> Then sure enough I check to see if CGI's are working and they are all dead. >> >> The server is a high load web hosting machine and has 256MB of RAM, the >> processor load is only ever at 2-3%. >> >> IS there anyplace special that I need to look at or modify to make this >> thing handle more processes without quiting on me. >> >> One small note to this problem...
