I've had exactly the same problem, i.e. gs deskjet
driver suddenly printing garbage after 1/2 a page.
There seem to be two solutions:
1) Changing
controller ppc0 at isa? port? net irq 7
to tty instead of net (which for some reason unbeknownst
to me is the default in GENERIC).
2) Configuring polling mode for the printer interface
lptcontrol -p (e.g. in /etc/rc.conf.local)
Regards,
Jens
