Since many people from this list have asked where they can download the program, I'll post here. Rain sends HLT instructions to your CPU when it's idle. This lowers the temperature of the processor and thus assists stability on systems that typically run hot. Q: What about a FreeBSD version? A: FreeBSD (and other OSs designed to be run in a 24/7 uptime environment) enable this by default in the kernel. Website for Rain/WaterfallPro containing some useful info: http://cpu.simplenet.com/leading_wintech/ You can grab a (perfectly legal) copy from the following site: http://cpu.simplenet.com/files.htm -jake (obituary) Powered by FreeBSD c9710216@atlas.newcastle.edu.au http://www.freebsd.org To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
