I purchased an emachines M3512 laptop about 3 weeks ago. I'm currently running 5.2-Beta on the machine to get the internal NIC to work with the touch pad. It was a good deal. It listed for $1249.99 before the $200 in rebates. It's an AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+ 1.8Ghz processor. 512MB ram 60 Gig drive ATI Mobility Radeon 15.4" Widescreen The machine works except for the following items: - Built In Wireless (Broadcom and there are no drivers for it not even for the Linux guys they have to use the windows drivers to get theirs to work). - Built in Modem (it's not a Lucent chipset) - DVD/CD-RW works for everything but playing music CD's. I cannot get sound out of this machine playing a regular music CD. Works in in XP but not in FreeBSD. Sound works with XMMS playing MP3 files. I haven't tried to burn a CD yet either. - Display only runs in 1024x768. It can do 1280x800. Haven't had a chance to play with this yet. I read on XFree86 where they have drivers for these cards. Any help or ideas on the CD Music thing would be helpful. Ray
