This is a cool little hack written by one of our best systems grad students. Netdump does partial crashdumps over the network. Using its partial dump feature, it typically takes less that 10 seconds to dump a 512MB machine. In addition to being fast, it is really nice for kernel developement because you can be debugging the problem while the test machine is still rebooting/fsck'ing.
