I'm not sure I follow your reasoning here. Maybe the brackets are unnecessar=
y grammatically but I don't think they change the meaning of the sentence. A=
s long as the processes in question were indeed in a short term uninterrupti=
ble wait the man page seems to be completely correct. I assume you see the s=
entence as having a different meaning though I'm afraid despite re-reading I=
 still can't see an alternative interpretation.=20

Anyway I don't want to get into a bike shed debate. I think the man page has=
 described the presumed situation quite well but if others want it changed t=
o something else I don't mind as long as its no worse than what we have now.=
