What was the PR# for this?  I don't remember seeing one. :(

I believe it was someones experament to see how difficult
it would be to make the *.mk and make files parallel safe. 
I don't think there was a PR associated with it.

I still have the patches somewhere on my system, I'd be
happy to forward them to you for you inspection.
