GRUB is very interesting in some ways, but a) I couldn't actually
build it (Linux-centric build process?), and b) is very much the
hackers power-toy.  I could see it being quite a daunting experience
for a "new" user.

(It also uses hardcoded block numbers for the 1.5 stage UFS bootstrap,
 something I am allergic to as a rule.)
