I run on FreeBSD4.3 for a year.
Recently I've got a modem US RObotics SportsterVoice 33.6
and wanna install it. I made the device /dev/cuaa1
(COM2 on Windows 200 works well and modem installs as default)
by running /dev/MAKEDEV.
Created a link ln /dev/modem /dev/cuaa1.
Configured all files in /etc/ppp/ for my needs
But when I try to execute
# ppp
and then (in ppp) type
> term
i get an error:
tun0: Warning: deflink: /dev/modem: Bad file descriptor
failed to open /dev/modem

Modem seems to be dead during this process.

I think my kernel don't support it, even I when load kernel.GENERIC (but I
don't sure it is GENERIC, maybe I deleted it earlier)

My src directory is empty so I even can't build a new kernel.
So what I have to do?
Where can I get kernel which support my modem.
Where could I find a sources (on my FreeBSD CD)?
