In general you should have used something like "subsequent maintainer timeouts".

However, in this particular case:

https://bugs.freebsd.org/275716 - the commit message is wrong, the maintainer
has approved the patch in time.

https://bugs.freebsd.org/279862 - committed with three weeks timeout, but maintainer
replied on the next day after commit.

Maintainer has approved the patch in time, pr was assigned to committer and
it is still not committed.

> For me, the maintainer has not shown interest in keeping this port up to

He missed several releases, so maybe he has indeed lost the interest.
I'd submit a PR and ask for passing the maintainership.
