Russell L. Carter once stated: =|=fresh -current (though probably not dependent on -current) =|To reduce the memory consumption of GNU compilers (at the expence of their =|execution time) -- remove the ``-pipe'' option. =|P.S. Not to offend, are you sure ``-current'' is for you? =Of course, if I had configured vn as you suggest, then I would have =nearly certainly wedged the system, *had* I swapped anything out to the =vn device. I did not know it is that bad with vn now. But your origininal question was "how to increase the amount of virtual memory"... =I don't want to offend either, but are you sure -current =is for you? I do not think it is, so I only go from one snapshot to another. =However, the -pipe idea is a good one, I'll try that when =I get back to that system. It will help, but your problem, I think is that you are running as a regular user, and are hitting the artificial limits imposed on you by /etc/login.conf. Check out the login.conf(5) for more. -mi To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-current" in the body of the message
