doing it in rc.local is probably the easiest way, if you want to
investigate making the default a kernel option and provide a
reasonable delta to the code I'll bring it in.

btw, you really ought to quote some of my message or at least give
a re-cap of the situation you're describing, it took me a few
minutes to figure out what you were asking about. :)
