This is the second time I've seen this happen. I use NTP to maintain a constant time synchronization between my machines. I execute an "ntpdate ntp1.sol.net ntp2.sol.net" on startup, and then continue to peer with those via xntpd. I am scratching my head: tazenda# date Fri Jun 29 06:26:54 CST 1928 tazenda# kill -TERM 101 (xntpd) tazenda# ntpdate ntp1.sol.net ntp2.sol.net 29 Jun 06:26:49 ntpdate: adjust time server 206.55.64.77 offset -0.094483 tazenda# date 9607171041.11 (a bit off) Wed Jul 17 11:41:11 CDT 1996 tazenda# ntpdate ntp1.sol.net ntp2.sol.net 17 Jul 10:43:51 ntpdate: step time server 206.55.64.77 offset -3447.559317 tazenda# date Wed Jul 17 10:44:00 CDT 1996 tazenda# ntpdate ntp1.sol.net ntp2.sol.net 17 Jul 10:46:59 ntpdate: adjust time server 206.55.64.77 offset 0.056805 tazenda# more /etc/ntp.conf server ntp1.sol.net. server ntp2.sol.net. driftfile /etc/ntp.drift tazenda# The box in question is running 2.0.5-RELEASE, but I believe I've seen it happen to a 2.1.0-RELEASE box too. Thoughts? Hmm, just noticed. It appears to have "changed" about a week ago, during a reboot. Perhaps ntpdate is at fault.. jgreco ttyp0 solaria Fri Jun 22 17:25 - crash (23:47) reboot ~ Fri Jun 22 12:54 andwww ftp ppp0-0.gmttech.c Wed Jul 10 16:54 - 16:56 (00:02) ...
