Always, always read UPDATING! If you did a 'make depend' to build the kernel, you did the wrong thing. The ONLY supported way to build the new kernel is: cd /usr/src make buildkernel KERNCONF=your_conf_name make installkernel KERNCONF=your_conf_name (or, if doing both at once, just 'make kernel KERNCONF=your_conf_name') The old method of running config, moving to the compile directory simply will not work in some cases and this is one.
