[-- Attachment #1 --] I'm looking into purchasing an IDE RAID controller card and i'm not too sure what to get. I'm currently trying an IWill Side-Raid 66, and i think it's crap. Bootup takes over 2 minutes, just to detect a drive, and the main problem i'm having is this. When i unplug one of the drives (PC OFF), i would assume that the PC would still boot up, considering this is a Mirrored RAID. Am i right in assuming this? When i unplug one drive, nothing happens, it just sits there at the F1/F2 boot loader screen, and if i unplug the other drive, it says it's unable to find/mount the drive. unfortunately, we don't have a lot of funds, so finding a... shall we say, cheaper, card would be ideal. Anywhere under $200. Also, if i started to have problems w/ one of these HDs, would i get messages in my syslog about problems w/ a drive from the RAID driver? I'm concerned about this, as this will be a server co-located about 3 hours away, and i'd kind of like to keep my driving time down this year. :) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
