Hi, I'm attempting to install onto a Toshiba 2805-S201 laptop. It already has Windows (ME) on it, and in order make use of the DVD player, I have to keep that on there, and have a dual boot Windows/FreeBSD. I've removed as much of the extraneous windows 'bumf' as I'm comfortable with, and have about 850Mb in use on the Windows. I've gone in with both FIPS and PResizer, and can't seem to reduce the Windows partition down to less than 1576Mb. Now, when I boot up to start the install the problem that I'm stumped with is when I go into the Disklabel Editor. I try 'A'uto defaults, and I get an error message: Unable to create the root partition. Too big? I've also tried 'C'reating a small root partition the smallest I can do, and get the error: This region cannot be used for your root partition as the FreeBSD boot code cannot deal with a root parition created in that location. Please choose another location or smaller size for your root partition and tru again! So, I'm wondering if this is anything to do with the 1024cylinder limitation that's mentioned in the Install FAQ? But this is where I'm confused. According to the disk geometry I'm getting from the Partition Editor, the geometry of the disk is 730cyl/255hd/63sect. Wouldn't that mean that root partition would be below that 1024 limit anyway? Or am I completely off base here? If anyone can offer assistance to get this thing going, please, let me know.
