A reboot is required in order to be able to destroy OpenZFS snapshots. I'm aware that (Open)ZFS and ffs snapshots are completely different things, but maybe this ffs-snapshot fix revealed a upper layer bug, which also causes the strange (Open)ZFS snapshot behaviour - most likely not, but wanted to mention.
