On my motherboard, Gigabyte 6OMM7E chip i815E, work just fine! 
But in my case /usr/src locate on local hard disk.

This chipset FreeBSD support (both i815 and i815E - ICH, ICH1, 
ICH2) very well!

May be I say stupidity:
Make a try to replace /usr/src on local hard disk ....
