You need at least as much free disk as you have memory configured. There was a post saying that fsck may be trashing core files if it starts using swap. To maximize the chances of recovering the core file boot into single user after the crash and do the following: fsck -y # or fsck and read every question, if you're paranoid mount -f / # remounts root read/write mount /var savecore /var/crash exit Gary
