What version of FreeBSD are you using? I got both 2.2.8 and 3.4-RELEASE (not
PAO) going this way on a Thinkpad 1410 (which has the same O2micro
controller). On the 1410 you hit F1 at boot time to get into BIOS setup, and
Cardbus enable/disable is an option on the "Advanced Settings" screen.

Can you send in a dmesg of what it does find?
