Hello everyone, I am new here and have some questions regarding the FreeBSD package manager, pkg, and the quarterly repository. I am building a FreeBSD v12 amd64 stable system. I would like to use pre-compiled packages from repository https://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:12:amd64/quarterly/ From this, https://wiki.freebsd.org/Ports/QuarterlyBranch, document it seems that: - https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/branches/2020Q1/ was created in early Jan 2020 and - https://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:12:amd64/quarterly/ was created from this branch sometime afterwards. Am I understanding this correctly? So I envisage, building the system, installing it and leaving it running so it can do its job. If, in a few months(~May 2020), I need to install a new package, will I get a package from repository https://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:12:amd64/quarterly/ built from: - https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/branches/2020Q1/ OR - https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/branches/2020Q2/ ? I assume https://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:12:amd64/quarterly will have been rebuilt from https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/branches/2020Q2/. If so, when installing the new package: - Will I get any warning prompt about it? - Can I cancel the install without any changes being made? Thanks Michael.
