pcvt will be going away in order to make room for the rework of the /dev/console and tty unlocking that has been taking far too long to happen. As far as I can tell, pcvt hasn't worked for a very long time, and nobody has shown any inclination to fix it or to assist with the necessary structural changes to keep it compatible with -current.
