Hi Joe,
   I recompiled Sawfish, but now startx only works for root.

For each user, there already exists the .xinitrc file 
with: /usr/X11R6/bin/gnome-session being the only line in there.

The error I get is:
Fatal Server Error:
Cannnot open log file /var/log/XFree86.0.log

Please help me with this.
