I have a DEC AlphaStation 255, it has an S3 86C765 (Trio64) graphics card. I recently upgraded it to FreeBSD 5.0 RELEASE. X used to work on FreeBSD 4.6 when Option "no_pci_disconnect" was used, however this trick does not work with 5.0 ala Xfree86 4.2.1; the machine locks up and has to be power cycled. I've tried lots of things and nothing seems to work. This problem seems to be little publicised but omnipresent with the Alphastation 255. I was wondering where I can find the definitive guide on what is wrong with the Alpha and the Trio 64 and how I can get my current machine to work. It surprises me that this problem is not more widely publicised owing to the fact that many AlphaStation 255's come with this card installed. I apologise in advance, I know this is a technical list but I had nowhere else to go since there aren't that many people out there that are experts on FreeBSD alpha.
