Just for curiosity, can you run this command with cdialog without your patch

env TERM=ansi cdialog --menu test 0 0 0 a 1 b 2 c 3

When I press arrows cdialog exits.

(Anyway for me your patch/change to ansi is ok, assuming we can change the
caabilities of a term).
