In your machine's past life as Win95, did this printer work with this 
computer connected the same way? Once Upon A Time I had a Silentwriter 
90 at work but don't remember if it was able to automatically switch 
between serial, parallel, and LocalTalk or if it had to be manually 
switched. Also don't remember if it could (or had to be) switched 
between HPCL and Postscript on a per-port basis.
