I followed the setup instructions from https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/articles/ldap-auth/article.html doc r47080 Section 3.2 mentions that "The net/nss_ldap port uses the same configuration file as security/pam_ldap, and should not need any extra parameters once it= is installed."
