The gif(4) manpage as well as the various mailing list archives all seem to indicate that it is difficult and/or impossible to tunnel IPv6 over IPv4 with the IPv4 link being secured using IPSec. According to the KAME archives, the double layer of tunneling leads to problems, though details have been sparse. Has anybody here tried to tunnel IPv6 over IPv4 with IPSec? If so, what problems did you run into and did you find a workaround?
