For 3dfx mode, you need linux_glide, the patched svgalib-foo and MESA-2.6 compiled yourself with linux_devel, the binary shared library fromt he quake2 distribution does not work on FreeBSD. You may want to search the archive http://www.freebsd.org/seach.html, where several setup documents were posted. Note that the Linux-emul changes are no longer needed in 3.0-BETA.
