I'll second that, insofar as from the point of view of the system, DOS 
binaries and the doscmd.kernel file are both "data".

I just looked at it; it would be hell without rewriting the (fairly
disgusting) terminal interface.  There was some work being done on
this a while back; I am hoping that with the latest burst of
enthusiasm one or more of the original hackers will get involved
again.
