But it should show the processes of httpd if it is working correctly.

Try the following.

tail -f /usr/local/apache/logs/error_logs (but please change /usr/local/apache
to where you installed apache. refer to the man pages if you don't understand
what the tail command does.)

If you start apache make sure you type in /usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start
as root or su

Make sure there are no typing errors in your httpd.conf, access.conf, etc
