Hi all,

I tried to install the 5.1-RELEASE on a Alphaserver ES-40 with the
following configuration:

4 x 500 Mhz CPU's
5 Gb RAM
4 QLogic SCSI cards
1 Mylex (DAC960)
1 shelf with 6 x 9Gb SCSI connected to the Mylex controller

I boot normaly with the cd, I try to create the filesystems and I get
an error message like this on the sysinstall application:

Device busy.
Unable to make new root filesystem on /dev/mlxd0a.
Command returned status 36.

On the VTY1, I get this messages:

DEBUG: Scaning disk mlxd0 for root filesystem
DEBUG: Scaning disk mlxd0 for swap partitions

...

newfs: wtfs: 2048 bytes at sector 0: Operation not permited

The Mylex controller has the 2.73 firmware and I have 5 x 9Gb on RAID-
5 and 1 x 9Gb as a spare disk.

Any help on this?

One other question: On the hardware notes for this release, it says
that it's not possible to boot from Mylex controllers due to SRM
limitations but there are two Linux distributions that boot from the
Mylex on SRM with no problem. This is a limitation for the FreeBSD
code?

Thanks everybody.

Alessandro.
