I suggest you go look at the code. The loop variable is used in various pla=
ces
to switch between values in (...? ...:...) statements. I would be quite an
undertaking to figure that out. This was easier and works for me.

Also, I think this will only slow down the initial boot, and that's not
something that FreeBSD systems do very often.
