Hmm, the interesting problem was that the new sendmail does also MIME-cripple an outgoing message even if the destination mailer *does* speak ESMTP (e.g. sending SMTP is sendmail 8.7.something, receiving SMTP is the sendmail of FreeBSD 2.0.5).
