I have a network with 3x Linux servers and 3x FreeBSD servers on it that I am trying to get NIS running on. One of the FreeBSD servers is to be the ypserv master and another will be a slave. The linux boxes are 2x terminal servers and 1x shell + pop server thus they will just be clients. Do I have to run DES passwords on the FreeBSD machines as they are all currently MD5? The Debian/Linux machines are all running shadow passwords which I guess are still DES. - Ernie.
